Shoalwater Medical Centre is a mixed billing Practice
We are a mixed billing medical practice. This allows us to provide high quality, sustainable care while continuing to support patients who need it most.
Medicare rebate no longer covers the full cost of providing modern general practice care. By operating as a mixed billing clinic, we are able to :
- Spend appropriate time with patients
- Maintain experienced doctors and staff
- Invest in better systems, equipment and patient services
- Ensure ongoing access to care for our community
Bulk billing remains available for eligible patients, including
- Children under 16
- Pension Card holders – aged & disability only
- DVA card holders
Discounted fees apply for concession card holders & commonwealth seniors card.
Our priority is – and always will be – providing the best possible care for our patients
Appointments are billed based on time and complexity. Your doctor MAY choose to bulk bill you. Please check with reception staff for current fees and Medicare rebates
All Saturday appointments are privately charged. No bulk billing appointments available.
Please note that any procedures performed (e.g. ECG, spirometry, excisions etc) will accrue extra fees.
Payment of your account is expected at the time of consultation. We will transmit your payment to Medicare for refund directly to you. We accept cash, Eftpos and all major credit cards (except Diners and Amex). Cheques will only be accepted in certain circumstances.
There are some consultations which may not attract a Medicare Rebate such as:
- Workers compensation
- Insurance medical examinations
- Patients not registered with Medicare
- Some procedures – advised to check with reception
